Travel Itinerary

8-Days Safari Tour
Day 1

Crossing into Angola over the Calai bridge. Your guide will guide you through the boder post procedures.
A trip eastbound towards the Cuito river confluence.
Camping at Cuito River Lodge.

Day 2

Fishing, river sightseeing cruises.

Day 3

Fishing, river sightseeing cruises.

Day 4

Leaving the Cuito river towards Mucusso. At Mucusso following the road north towards the Luengue river and Licua.
Camping close to Licua.

Day 5

Following the trail eastbound passing Baixa Luengue, then through the chana and duneveld terrain towards Jamba Airfield.
Camping close to Jamba.

Day 6

Visiting the historical town of Jamba, including the former home of Savimbi and Radio Vorgan.
Then we follow the trail towards the Cuando river.
Camping between Boa Fe and Sasha area.

Day 7

Relaxing at the Cuando river campsite.

Day 8

Leaving Bico through the Susuwe border post into Namibia ending this safari.
Guest can refuel at Kongola, and visit the Kwando Core Area inside Bwabwata National Park or continue to your next destination

10-14 Days Safari Tour
Day 1

Crossing into Angola through the Catuitui border post. Your guide will guide you through the boder post procedures.
We then follow the Cubango river northbound on the national road to Menongue.
After about 70km we pass through the historical town of Savate. 32BN launched attack on Savate on 21 May 1980 (Ops Tiro a Tiro)
15 of 32BN got killed, and 558 Fapla dead and wounded.
Following the road for a further 35km, we cross the Cubango river from west to east using a steel barge. From here we follow the trail to the east to Cubango Safari Services. The road takes us through pristine Rosewood, Zambezi teak and Wild teak (Dolfhout) forests. Camping at Cubango Safari Services campsite on the bank of the Cuatir river, a tributary of the Cubango river.

Day 2

We follow the trail out and using the barge to get to the main road towards Menongue. The evening we camp at Villa Menongue.

Day 3

 Today we do a historical sightseeing trip, which include a visit to the crash site of Mirage F1AZ #245 of Major Ed Every.

Day 4

We leave Menongue and continue to Cuito Cuanavale, the town which was the centre of the military activities during 1987 and 1988 during Ops Modular, Hooper and Packer.
Here we visit the Tumpo triangle, which became well known during the last days of the war when a minefield the Cuban’s prepared, caused the SADF to abandon three elephant main battle tanks on 23 March 1988.
After Tumpo we continue to the War Musseum, which was completed in August 2017 by the Koreans.
Camping near Cuito Cuanavale.

Day 5

We return on the main road towards Menongue and turn off at Longa, to follow the Longa river towards Baixa Longa.

Day 6

We continue following the Cuito river in a south easterly direction. Camping will be near Mpupa Falls.

Day 6

Today we follow the Cuito river towards the confluence with the Cubango river, where it form the Okavango river.
Camping at Cuito River lodge.

Day 7

Fishing, river sightseeing cruises.

Day 8

Fishing, river sightseeing cruises.

Day 9

Fishing, river sightseeing cruises.

Day 10

Today we cross the Cuito river and continue towards Mucusso. The participants on a 10 day safari will leave Angola through the border post at Mucusso, and join the tar road at the Bagani bridge over the Okavango river in Namibia.

Day 11

 Following the trail eastbound passing Baixa Luengue, then through the chana and duneveld terrain towards Jamba Airfield.
Camping close to Jamba.

Day 12

Visiting the historical town of Jamba, including the former home of Savimbi and Radio Vorgan.
Then we follow the trail towards the Cuando river.
Camping between Boa Fe and Sasha area.

Day 13

Relaxing at the Cuando river campsite.

Day 14

Leaving Bico through the Susuwe border post into Namibia ending this safari.
Guest can refuel at Kongola, and visit …. Or continue to your next destination

You will need:

  • Money to pay the Safari 🙂
  • Passport
  • Yellow fever certificate
  • A 4×4 vehicle
  • Camping equipment including the following:
    Tent, Folding chair, Bedroll with matrass and pillow, eating utensils
  • Snacks and refreshments, as well as own booze
  • Hat, sunglasses, sun cream, camera, chargers, batteries and extra film
    Clothing for hot/cold conditions
  • Prescription medicine
  • Small bowl or collapsible basin
  • Toilet paper
  • Matches
  • Torch with spare batteries
  • Rubbish bags to carry own rubbish (empty cans etc)
  • Shovel
  • 20 liters of water

Your 4x4 will need

  • Police clearance
  • Spare tyre(s)
  • Spare fuel filters
  • Spare fuel to complete the longest distance between two known fuel supply points
  • Tyre repair kit
  • Tyre pressure gauge
  • Radiator seed net
  • Tie down straps to secure your cargo
  • Safari snorkel on air intake
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Spare fluids/oils (engine/gearbox/power steering/brake/diff etc)
  • Spare fuses
  • Empty lighter socket for
  • VHF radio power plug
  • Space for one ammo box with food (to receive first day)

Any cancellations within one month prior to departure, is non-refundable.
